On the way home, the winds had dissipated quite a bit, and we could survey the damage all along the highway. In Monument, there were winds of up to 79 miles per hour which is the same strength as a category 1 hurricane. Amazing, really, for here on the front range.
With all the winds, though, the temps reached into the 60's and we finally got rid of all the ice on the street in front of our house from the snowfalls in early December.
Then, this morning we were greeted with this:

Notice you can no longer see the curb -- which means it was about 5 inches deep, although in some areas it accumulated a little more. Without winds, however, we did not have drifts.
Being a wet snow, it was slick going to church. But because it was a wet snow, by the time we were traveling home after church, the roads were simply wet. Of course this evening as the temps dip below freezing, it'll be slick again.
I love the beauty of snow. It is invigorating to me and today it reminded me of the Light of the World, Jesus.

Hi Paula, I found you through Heidi (minnesota mom), and I totally agree with what you said.
That being said, I cannot comprehend your snowy picture! I live in east Central Texas, and I had my A/C on yesterday and the day before. I think I would go crazy living somewhere where it gets that cold. I'll take our hot hot summers anytime over the snow. How in the world do you drive without killing yourself?? :)
Well Brea, I grew up here learning to drive in this stuff.
My mom drew up in North Dakota, so Colorado's a bit of an improvement on that, as we have 4 seasons and not two as they do there.
I cannot imagine a life without snow!
My nieces grew up in San Antonio, so we've visited there a lot. Texas is pretty around there.
I live with the A/C on here in the summer if that makes ya feel better?
