Our Pastor's sermon yesterday might have been called "Fishers of Men."
He posited about a club of fishermen who used to fish. They would gather and talk an awful lot about fishing, formed committees to carry on their club business and even hired staff. As time when on though, nobody was actually fishing anymore. History shows that they used to fish at every opportunity, even with those whom they didn't like.
As time went on, they began to focus on scandal, strife and being scared. They doubtfully questioned, "Was God closer to them than He is to us?" Have we become "keepers of the aquarium instead of fishermen?"
How can this change? We start by repenting and forgiving others as He has forgiven us. We continue by remembering all that He has done for us. Then we remember that you cannot catch fish if your line isn't in the water.
