Bee Hives, Oh MY!

Today, as we were parking outside the library, R says to me, "Momma, you know that some women go to barber shops and get their hair done like a bee hive!?" She thought she was reporting something new to me. What a sweetie!

She wonders why anyone would do that to their hair, teasing and backcombing and hairspray.

Now, my mom's hair was never long enough for her to do a beehive, but she did do that teasing and backcombing thing to add height to the hair.

So I shared with R about when my mom told me about the first time she had a permanent. It was back in the 40's during the war, and you rolled the hair up with curling rods that were attached to electicity!

Well, wouldn't you know it, the electricity went out during the perm and my mom was scared in the dark but couldn't move as she was attached to all those curling rods.

Well this was quite shocking to R who can't imagine why anyone would do that to have curly hair.

Don't you just love the way children's minds work? So innocent and full of curiosity and also so willing to just tell ya what they're thinking?

I'm savoring this time with the curious R!

When are you gonna post something new? I know you are holding out on us. R says funny stuff every 16 seconds.

And... How about some Amused Mama's most embarrassing moments?

Or fantabulous recipes???
