Happy Mother's Day!

My mom's been gone now for 7 and a half years. This time of year makes me miss her acutely, however, because she and my father's anniversary would have been May 4th, and her birthday would have been May 9th.

So, on our way home from the luscious Emerald Valley, we visited her and placed some yellow flowers in the vase of her gravestone.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom! You're in a better place now, at the table of our Lord and Savior.

Those are beautiful flowers. I love it when you talk about your mom. The love you have for her is so evident.

My dad died a few weeks before his birthday, which was close to Christmas. I have the same great sense of loss in mid-December each year. How blessed we are to know that our loved one is with our Savior.

Karen, I've been meaning to respond to your comment.

We are blessed to know that our loved ones are with our Savior, and that eases a lot of the "missing her" feelings I have for my mom.

I think it seems more poignant to me now because my dad is faltering so in his health and mental capacity.

I've stuck a note in my daytimer to pray for you this Christmas season when you'll be missing your dad.
