Some of you may remember that our middle daughter tried out for American Idol, Season 7 last August in Omaha -- same place that David Cook tried out at. We've followed the season with piqued interest because it's possible K will try out again.
I agree with GE Veith who said he thought that although both finalists were good performers and can sing, the better man won.
Yippee!
I called it back on March 25!
Congratulations to David Cook!

From the tiny bit that I saw, I was hoping he would win. Good for him, and as GEV said, good for the American people! ;)
Wow! I've never known anyone who tried out. That's neat! Did she cry? I hope they didn't make her cry!
I don't watch the show but I think it;'s a great way to launch stars that would have otherwise gone undetected!
Blessings!
Lacy
Lacy,
No, she didn't cry. But it was a good learning experience for her.
The initial judge was on her cell phone and only listened for 10 seconds - they are supposed to have 30 seconds in the initial try-out. The judge wasn't having a good conversation on her phone, she was angry about something. So when she dismissed our daughter, K, our daughter was at first mad and felt like she hadn't been given a fair shot. It was a good lesson in learning that life isn't always fair.
Our daughter is hoping try-outs will be in Denver this year. She will take what she learned last year and try again. Many of the contestants try multiple times before getting on.
As I understand it, David Cook went to support and encourage his brother, who really dreamed of being on the show. As we watched the end of the program the other evening, I was very impressed with David Cook's brother who was proud of his brother and excited for him. I thought that was a remarkable display of brotherly love.
I watch the show sometimes, the best part I think is in the beginning. I have never known anybody to try out, must have been nerve racking
