Banning the word MEME

I came upon the blogging world later than most had caught on... it felt weird to me that strangers might have an interest in reading my blog. But as *I* read blogs more, I found that there is benefit to sharing certain things with one another. And it is a great way to keep up with family and friends.

One of the things that has bugged me about blogging is the word "meme." I had to look it up (4th definition down, the one with "philosophy" beside it) to find out what it meant.

To think that the blogging word is now using a term that is snickered at by hackers and originated from the evolution proponents' rotweiler turns my stomach.

And, as an independent minded learner, memes smack too much to me of the factory-workers mentality of everyone doing the same thing when we all have been wonderfully created in God's vast image which encompasses all of our differences, etc.

So, I am proposing a ban on the word meme, and accepting suggesting for a replacement of the word. What say ye?

I always wondered where the term MEME originated. I'd never heard it before entering the blogsphere. It's an apt description as one person tags several people who then tag several more people each. The MEME spreads like a germ does ....or an epidemic. What would you like to call it?

I thinking of something like "gleme" which could be a combination of glean and meme... it's what I do for our own home education adventures, glean what is appropriate for our family, but changing it somewhat to meet our needs. Cookie cutter things don't work for me.

But, I'm not the best at coming up with these kinds of things, I'm better at asking the questions... thus the plea to others to come up with an alternative.
