Thankful Thursday!
Here is an ABC listing of my current blessings and things/people for which I am thankful! I was encouraged by reading this post and excited to have the opportunity to express much of what I am thankful for! If you decide to play along, for really it can be done any day, please leave me a comment so I can check yours out!
Our family is experiencing tremendous changes as my husband is divorcing me after 23 years of marriage and my oldest daughter is pursuing her interests and talents in the political world and recently moved to another state. My middle and youngest daughter continue to amaze me with their charms and talents.
A ~ Automobiles. Especially when they’re working correctly. They transport us as needed to and fro and bring us where we need to be. It’s also where I listen to my IPod the most.
B ~ Bible! Although I was brought up in a Christian home, and have been going to church most of my life, I am amazed at the “new” things I learn from His Word. There is always some form of comfort, encouragement and blessing to be found there.
C ~ Cindy, my co-worker, whose friendship is invaluable to me as I am navigating these unforeseen difficult times in my life. And Carol, the office manager and boss’ wife, whose compassion and understand are phenomenal! What great women the Lord has surrounded me with!
D ~ DVDs! I enjoying watching marvelous movies and TV programs that usually Kaitlyn has introduced us to that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise considered.
E ~ Endurance. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13.
F ~ Facebook! It allows me to associate with multiple people that my crazy life wouldn’t allow if we I had to schedule time with them all. And I love knowing all about my friends’ lives and what is important to them. Plus the silliness factor is a lifesaver some days!
G ~ Girlfriends! Friends are such an integral part of my life and their love and support has been so essential this past year as it feels like so much is changing and beyond my control. I am so blessed by so many caring and loving friends. Now, not all are girls, but the majority are. I appreciate them all more than words can say!
H ~ Health! How exciting it has been to lose weight this year which has significantly impacted my health in a very positive way! I’ve lost 63 pounds and hope to lose another 40-45 pounds in the next year.
I ~ IPod! Oh my! What a joyous thing to have the exact music I want at my fingertips! And, I have the joy of having seminars, sermons and other like items to entertain and enhance my brain!
J ~ Jesus, my Lord and Savior! Need I say more?
K ~ Kaitlyn, my middle daughter, who claims to be “the good one” and in reality is a good kid! Her steadfastness is a blessing to me and those who know her and I am so proud of her!
L ~ Laptop! I enjoy using my computer for multiple things and have come to utilize its features more and more as the laptop suits my rather eclectic tastes and ability to be versatile with where I do it.
M ~ Mom. The name I cherish being called and pray daily to live up to!
an inspiration she is!
N ~ Naps! Nighttime sleep is often illusive, so naps are essential to my well-being!
O ~ Oxygen. Can’t live without it! Often as emotions overwhelm me I am thankful that I can breathe and take one moment at a time. Breathe in, and then out. Repeat.
P ~ Pat, my beloved sister, whose unconditional love truly blesses me! What an inspiration she is!
Q ~ Quilt! I have a lap quilt, really a “quillow” that my parents got for me when they last visited PA’s Amish country. It is my companion on the couch and a comforting memory of them.
R ~ Raechel, my third daughter! What a joy her laughter is to me. She keeps me young and focused on things outside my head and broken heart.
S ~ Sarah, my oldest daughter, who paves the path of “firsts” for this imperfect Mom. I am proud of her and praying for her success in her new endeavor working for a PAC in another state.
T ~ Tea! Glorious tea! I love coffee, but tea is soothing and filled with comfort and reminds me of times it was shared with loving friends.
U ~ Underwear. As I’ve lost weight the properly fitted kind I’ve learned is important to feeling confident in one’s clothing that the parts that were meant to be private are that way.
V ~ Vocabulary words! I love learning new words and expanding my vocabulary.
W ~ Water! How refreshing it is when it’s cold to drink, or warmed up for tea or coffee or a soothing bath.
X ~ eXtra! Extra pounds are gone and staying off and I am so glad!
Y ~ You! As I said earlier, my friends have been the folks who have offered loving support and encouragement, especially during this transitional time.
Z ~ Zzzzs. Sleeping is important to mental and physical health and I highly recommend it!

Paula! Sometimes I think of you and wonder if you ever plan to return to blogging. I am so sorry to hear of your divorce--that must be incredibly hard. I am encouraged by your spirit, by God's grace, looking for blessings despite going through trials.
I love this list, Aunt Paula! You are awesome!
Love you!
