Pastor's sermon was based on the gospel reading from Luke 14:1-14, and was about lurking. The Pharisees were lurking (waiting) to trip Jesus up by asking Him questions about the Sabbath and what was appropriate to do. (Interesting note from Bible class later was about the different translations of Luke 14:5, some version contain "son" others contain "donkey" or "ass" ~ puts a little different twist on that question Jesus asks doesn't it?) Towards the end of the sermon Pastor said, "Ya know there are people out there who are looking up to God in heaven, lurking, waiting to pounce if you do something wrong so He can give you hell."
Of course, then Pastor reminded us that Jesus covered all our sins, even the ones that others are waiting on.
There was a part of his sermon where he talked about us being God's feet, hands, voice to our neighbors on earth. This took some explaining for our 7-year old as she has been learning about the systems of the body *and* her grandma is in the hospital waiting to be well enough to have her foot amputated due to infection (mersa). How can grandma be God's feet if she doesn't have them both? How we can be God's feet -- "does he just come inside them or what?" R asked.
Vias tuas, Domine, demonstra noblis. (Show us Thy ways, O Lord. Psalm 25:4)
